Why is it that the week before you leave on vacation is always the busiest? Did I mention that I’m not a big fan of meetings? I would rather be “doing” something instead of talking about it but I understand meetings are necessary and sometimes even useful. I hope your Monday is filled with lots of “doing”!!

What is the story of your life? Did you realize that it’s not really your story but it is His story? Several days ago my wife shared with me that day’s devotion from Paul Tripp’s book New Morning Mercies. I liked the last part so much I wanted to quote it here today. He says, “Your story isn’t an autobiography either. Your story is a biography of wisdom and grace written by another. Every turn he writes into your story is right. Every twist of the plot is for the best. Every new character or unexpected event is a tool of his grace. Each new chapter advances his purpose. ‘Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the LORD are right’ (Hos. 14:9). It is almost a gross understatement to say that God’s ways are better. How could they not be? He is infinite in wisdom and grace!”

Our lives are designed not for our pleasure or our glory but for His. Your life is a gift from Him that we are called to give back and to live for Him. Somehow we often forget this simple fact and we try to live our lives for ourselves. We tend to plan each day and each moment with the focus on us and what we want. God’s plan is for us to live each moment to bring Him glory.

The real question we need to ask ourselves each day is not what do I want to do but what will bring Him the most pleasure. Maybe that means spending time just playing with your kids or maybe it means God wants you to work hard today or maybe God wants you to volunteer your time or give your money to further His kingdom. God has big plans for you today! Are you listening to Him? He is writing your story today. I pray that today’s chapter will be amazing!!

Thanks for your prayers as we head to the beach this Friday for a little time away. Some of our kids and grandkids will be joining us so pray that it will be a fun and refreshing time together.

I also wanted to say that we had a good time sharing dinner last night with some church members and one non-member. I hope you had a chance to spend some time with another family and continue to build those relationships for Jesus!

Have a blessed week!
