September 5, 2017

It’s a short week and it’s Tuesday but the blog must go on!! I am praying that your week will be . . . not easy, but that God’s name will be on your lips and in your heart and that others might see Jesus in you.

As most of you know by now, a small group from our church are going down to Fulton, TX on the coast to bring supplies and do what we can in a short period of time to help this small town in desperate need. We are leaving very early Friday morning and coming back late Saturday night. We are going with a former youth of mine, Jerry Tutt, at the request of the mayor of Fulton, Jimmy Kendrick, who happens to be a former church member and friend of ours from our Longview days at Oakland Heights Baptist Church. This will hopefully not be our only trip down to help but it is something we can do now to show that we care. Please be in prayer for us as we go and if you want to help there is a list of supplies they have requested. You can drop off any supplies at the church by Thursday morning and we will make sure they are used well.

Ice coolers & Ice
Generators – they are without power for about 6 weeks
Tire repair kits
Square shovels
Outdoor brooms
Phone chargers – iphone and android
Cineplex nails
Battery operated drills and screwdrivers
Gas cans
Tooth brushes
Hygiene supplies

I also want to make you aware of a special time of prayer tomorrow night at FBCWS. We will be taking the whole time in special prayer as we really lift up people who are facing very uncertain health issues. Right now I know that Don Reese and Elizabeth Passmore need extra special prayer and we will lift them up individually tomorrow night. I also want to pray for Bro. Roy Robertson as he seems to be facing more than his fair share of physical issues. There will be others that we want to lift up individually. In fact, if you have someone you want us to pray for by name and personally please email me back or call the church office. We will also be taking some time to pray for Ashley Huffstutler, who will be going in for invasive brain surgery soon. We will be joining with several other churches in praying for her. Some of us will also be joining them in fasting on Wednesday as we lift up Ashley and our local people who are facing severe health issues. Come join us as we join our hearts together for these in need.

I still have my list of upcoming topics but today I want to close with another reminder of an event happening this week. This Sunday, September 10th, our Missions Team will be making lunch for the entire church. We will be providing “Soup and Sandwiches” and we hope those of you in Fort Worth will come join us. There are going to be a number of delicious soup options and self-made sandwiches with all the fixin’s. This first luncheon will be a way for us to say “Thank You” to those of you who have helped support Missions by sending us to help refugees internationally. There will be no charge but if you want to donate to the continued effort then we will gladly accept those gifts. If any of you who don’t attend feel like you want to help you also have that opportunity. We will be doing more church wide lunches in the months to come so let us know what you would like to see in the way of menu items.

I am ON MISSION Today! Are You?
