March 12th, 2018

The older I get the quicker Monday seems to roll around and here it is again. This morning was especially painful because it feels like I lost that Daylight Savings hour all over again. But today is a special Monday as it is the Monday of OneCry Week here at FBCWS. Today I’m going to spend the majority of this blog talking about that so I apologize up front to those who are out of town and cannot participate with us. But I would certainly ask that each and every one of you partner with us in praying for OneCry this weekend AND that you begin praying for a nationwide revival!! I believe God is moving and we need to join with Him in prayer. And I as I mentioned the last few weeks, I am fasting today and it’s not too late for you to join me. You can still fast from here until supper/dinner or even until breakfast tomorrow!!

The biggest thing I am going to do this week is to PRAY. That may sound silly or maybe it sounds like a “duh” statement but truly the biggest thing any of us can do as we prepare for this weekend is to Pray. As I mentioned yesterday, Oswald Chambers said, "Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work." No one should ever have to apologize for spending time in prayer. This event has already been prayed over for many weeks. Some of you may not know that there are many people outside of FBCWS that have been praying for this weekend over the past weeks. The OneCry network has been praying and there are dozens of specific prayer warriors who have pledged to pray daily for us and for God to move. Unbeknownst to us there have even been people who have come and drove around our church and lifted us up in prayer. The numbers of prayers that have already been prayed might truly surprise you. I know our Evangelist, Laine Johnson, is praying and I hope you are praying for him. James Poole, with OneCry, and I have spent time in prayer on a number of occasions. Just yesterday James told me about a number of different and exciting things that are happening all across our nation in regards to prayer.

The movement of praying for revival is rapidly growing all across America. James referred back to the great Moravian 100 year prayer movement and said God is working in America today like nothing since that great movement in the 1700’s. Many of you may have never heard about that amazing moment in history. It began in 1726 and on “August 27 of that year twenty-four men and twenty-four women covenanted to spend one hour each day in scheduled prayer.” “For over a hundred years the members of the Moravian Church all shared in the ‘hourly intercession.’ At home and abroad, on land and sea, this prayer watch ascended unceasingly to the Lord,” stated historian A. J. Lewis. And out of that movement over 300 missionaries spread the gospel all across the globe. Nikolous von Zinzendorf was part of that movement. “The prayer vigil by Zinzendorf and the Moravian community sensitized them to attempt the unheard-of mission to reach others for Christ. Six months after the beginning of the prayer watch the count suggested to his fellow Moravians the challenge of a bold evangelism aimed at the West Indies, Greenland, Turkey and Lapland. Some were skeptical, but Zinzendorf persisted. Twenty-six Moravians stepped forward the next day to volunteer for world missions wherever the Lord led.” You can read more here in this article called “A Prayer Meeting That Lasted 100 Years.”

God has called us to pray today. Will you join me? We have scheduled a 12 hour Prayer Vigil (sounds pretty small compared to 100 years right?) this Friday morning from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Please call the church office and schedule a 30 minute time slot for you to come down to the church and prayer for OneCry and for Revival. We need as many of you as possible to come and pray. Let’s pray and see what God can do!! Remember: Without prayer we get what man can do; with prayer we get what God can do!

The weekend begins this Friday at 6:00 PM with a church-wide meal. We will meet at 6:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and Sunday evening. You can continue to laugh at me for referring to this as 6-6-6 but I would imagine most who heard that will remember. We are also meeting at 9:30 Saturday morning and on Sunday morning we will meet all together in the Worship Center at 9:45. It will be a long and busy weekend but I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be. As I challenged our people yesterday . . . pray about this earnestly and if God gives you permission NOT to be there then I’m good with that. But if He says come (and I know He will) then please obey His voice. Don’t come because of me but come because God is going to be there and when He shows up your life will be changed.

Thanks to all who helped with our Block Party yesterday! It was a little chilly but we still served around 80 hot dogs and had some great interactions with people at the Gold Creek Apartments. They were very warm and welcoming and we know God is going to continue to bless our efforts!

I also want to take this opportunity to wish my granddaughter, Lyla Jade Hixon, a very Happy Birthday! She is the daughter of our son, Derek, and our daughter-in-law, Ashley. Lyla turns an astounding two years old today!

I am ON MISSION Today! Are You?

Blessings
