March 18, 2019

It’s been a crazy Monday morning. I wonder if this has anything at all to do with March Madness (the basketball tourney)? Probably not but it has been a little bit of madness today. I am praying that your week is off to an amazing start. If you’re actively praying then I know God is going to be working through you today. Keep those lines of communication with Him open and flowing!!
This is my last blog for a few weeks. The last blog before we get to the end of our 90 Days of Prayer. In case you missed the memo, Jennifer and I have the opportunity to go to Jamaica on a Mission Trip at an orphanage there and so we will be out. In fact, the next two Mondays will really be travel days for us. We would really appreciate your prayers as we go out not only representing Christ but also representing you.
So, since this is the last blog for a few weeks I wanted to reinforce what we have been emphasizing over the last few months. If we are not in proper communion with God and hearing His voice as He speaks to us it’s like hitting a baseball and then missing first base. If we are not growing in intimacy with Him then everything else means nothing. God will not bless us, He will not use us, He will not work through us unless and until we are seeking His face constantly and doing our best to follow Him. “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”” (Matthew 16:24-26)
Here is a list again of the 10 commitments we have been working on this quarter:
1. Establishing a Dedicated Time of Prayer
2. Build a Family Time of Prayer
3. Reading Scripture
4. Fasting
5. Identifying and Praying for Your Sphere of Influence
6. Participating in Corporate Prayer
7. Performing an Act of Kindness
8. Conducting Prayer Walks
9. Praying for Salvation
10. Generational Blessings
These are things that should be a part of our lives when it comes to praying. These must become routine. They must become ingrained into our prayer life. They should be a habit that we have formed over this time period so that when April and May and June come we are still doing them. They should be ingrained in us so that we can begin to move forward into the next phase of our spiritual walk with Him. This is the beginning. This is the foundation. This is the spiritual milk that He describes in 1 Peter 2:2. We should be ready next for the meat. But it starts here with our walk with Him. God has so much more that He wants to accomplish in our lives and in our families and in our church and in our community but it is a process. Too many times we want to jump over this first and most important step, the step of walking with God. We want His blessings and we want His power and we want success and we want, we want, and we want. And God is saying what I want is for YOU to want ME more than anything. When we do that then intimacy develops and God begins to bless in ways that we could not imagine.
This is where we are going. But it starts HERE. If you can’t take this step then you won’t be ready for the next one. Are you ready??
This Week: Block Party!! We have some very cool new banners we will be rolling out this week at our Block Party! But we need YOU!! In fact, we still need a location for our Block Party so if you have an idea or would be willing to arrange a great spot for us please call the church office. We also are looking for someone who would be willing to step up and be the Leader for all future Block Parties. If you feel like that is something you could do and that God is leading you to volunteer for please give me a call or just reply back to this email. This coming Sunday, March 24th, we need as many as possible to join us and when you join us I hope you will be willing to talk to strangers and invite them to join you for worship!!
Don’t forget we also have our last day of Fasting & Prayer for this quarter coming up on March 30th. The following day, March 31st, will also be the last Prayer Walk/Drive of the quarter. We will meet at the church at 4:00 PM.
I am ON MISSION Today! Are You?
